DIGNITY

DIGNITY is a Danish human rights institute which works with treatment, research, international development work and advocacy under one roof. We are represented in more than 20 countries where we cooperate with local partner organisations to fight torture and help torture victims and their families to a better life. DIGNITY works to eradicate torture, abuse and organised violence in Denmark as well as abroad. We do so because we know that torture destroys people, increases violence in society and creates a fundamental sense of insecurity and fear in the countries where torture is used.

In the legal department in DIGNITY, we are engaged in international projects to prevent torture and in advocacy work in Denmark and abroad. The legal framework for our interventions is the UN Convention against Torture and other international human rights norms. Legal students in the legal department are involved in a range of activities such as drafting legal papers, conducting research and planning project implementation in cooperation with other professional groups, including health professionals.
